My life lately has consisted on only wrapping things. At work, we are doing a variation of the above. Wrapping large tube like structures with hand dyed fabric. Then after eight hours of doing that I go home and wrap necklaces. Speaking of, I finished a round of necklaces and am on to making new ones that I think I like better. Also, slowly but surely I am finishing my lingerie project, bit by bit.

Aimee Brodeur

In the dusty corners of the internet, i've stumbled upon Aimee Brodeur. An inspiring photographer and installation artist who plays with light so beautifully. Her mirrored series in the forest is incredibly breath taking and amazing. I've been really drawn to installation pieces lately, probably due to the fact that I have been working at Anthropologie doing the art displays. Check her out here and gawk/drool/cry/be amazed by her work.

In other news, jewelry is on its way. There are few pieces that I am still working on, but once those puppies are finished they will be for sale over on Etsy. I'm also in the process of finishing a new project that i'll hopefully be able to sell on Etsy in the near future as well.

So I Lied

Ok, So obviously Young Lady You're a Mess Etsy didn't open tomorrow. Let's just say I signed a lease the next day and started the most hectic schedule of my life the day after that. Also, in the move everything made it BUT the jewelry. What does that mean? That means that I no longer have the entire stock of jewelry I spent quite a bit of time on anymore. Along with that, I am also working two jobs and going to school full time (like real school. Like science and math shit), therefore I have no time. In fact, right now I am playing hookie. Anyways, this video pretty much sums up the way I am feeling right now:
Although that may sum up the way I am feeling, I am trying to picture nothing but this, this and this to get through the day. Until then, I promise to come around more frequently.

Ps: Stick around because I promise YLYAM Jewelry will happen and I promise not to lose them this time.

Aces

I've returned from the desert, left the 110 degree weather for the much more mild 70 degree temperatures up north. The trip was absolutely wonderful aside from having to cut it short by two days. Ace Hotel was absolutely wonderful--but best of all it was air-conditioned. Although it's nice to be home, it means going back to the reality of work, house hunting, and worse of all: school.
BUT! GUESS WHAT? Young Lady, You're a Mess Etsy store is opening TOMORROW! Stay tuned! There isn't going to be much, but I'll continue to add as I finish. With that said, stop by tomorrow and pick up some jewelry and support my coffee addiction! (Just kidding.)

On Vacation

Will and I finally reached our vacation destination. I don't think I've ever spent that much time in a car. When I come back (which might be earlier than planned, unfortunately) the ETSY shop will be up. It'll be a limited selection but as I finish those pups they'll be up for sale. Hooray!

Back at Big Things, I stumbled upon some neat jewelry that incorporates textiles of some sort, something that I obviously love. Take a look at these tasseled bracelets:

I like the look of all of them stacked together with all of the different colors. They are reminiscent of my necklaces and would be paired perfectly with them. They are made by Lenebelle, a woman from the Netherlands who incorporates pops of colors into her surroundings. Take a look at her website and oogle at her beautiful pictures.

Long Time No Talk

The past two weeks have been the most stressful weeks I've had in quite sometime. The hubub of moving has kind of died down in the past few days and I've been able to concentrate on making more jewelry. I've already got three done and just have a few more to make, plus some bracelets and earrings. Young Lady, You're a Mess etsy is well on it's way. Hopefully in the next week that puppy will be up and running. And after the jewelry is posted, Young Lady, You're a Mess will have some other new goodies in store as well (no pun intended).

On Homes and Leaving the Best One Yet.

As most have probably already heard, I am in the midst of packing up, cleaning and leaving my house. For some reason, those of the housing world see my sister and I an unfit to live in their homes, therefore I am in the process of moving to my parent's house. Now, the odd thing about the house that you have lived in since you were 3 years old, is that after a certain point in time, generally after you've lived out of it for over three years, it tends not to feel much like home. Maybe it's because now I will have to face my parents when I come home drunk from bars? Yeah, probably.

Indie-Mart Aftermath

Two days after Indie-Mart and I am still tired. It was absolutely amazing and went even better than I could have ever imagined. The day started out a bit stressful. I had had about 6 hours of sleep the 48 hours prior (I left everything to do up until the last two days before, naturally) to arriving. Once we got there I unpacked, set up my area and immediately left to go over to the East Bay to look at a house that ended up being more of a hobbit's crack den. After spending about 5 minutes in Oakland, I jumped right in the car to wait in an hour and a half worth of traffic to get back to the fair. When I finally got back, it was only smooth sailing from there. I am pleased to say that I sold all but one piece! Now what comes next for Young Lady, You're a Mess is an ETSY STORE! For all those who purchased something or inquired about online shopping, an etsy store should be up in running in the next twoish weeks. If anyone wants to order something similar to what they saw on Sunday, you could always just email me Here and I can specially make one!

And now I am off to pack up my house and ponder the fact that I will be living in a storage unit as of later this week. Fun, right?

Too Much To Do

I've been MIA lately due to the fact that I am still homeless come the month of August, Indie-Mart is the DAY AFTER TOMORROW and I still am not done making the actual jewelry that I am supposed to be selling at this things AND I have to pack and be out in ONE week. That's a whole lotta uppercase. Anyways, if you are in the bay area, head over to Thee Parkside  and come check out all of the amazing crafts! I'll be back with far too many pictures and most likely a sunburn of some sort.

Bizarre Bazaar

Last night Will and I went to dinner followed by a walk in the park and an evening at the Academy of Sciences. Every Thursday the Academy of Sciences stays open late for a happy hour-drinks-after-dinner thing. It's a discounted admission, which for 8 dollars less looking at the albino alligator with bumping electronica in the background, isn't the worst thing that could happen. Besides falling in love with the albino gator and spending a good ten minutes trying to construct a plan to steal it with Will, we spent most of the time hanging around their "Bizarre Bazaar". Oddly enough, they had a craft fair that night amongst all the mixed drinks, wildlife and women in far too short skirts paired with far too high heels. I ended up buying two prints from this women who was part of Portland's Power and Light Press. She was pretty cool and seemed over the crowd as well, and not to mention the most reasonably priced vendor there. Will got to nerd out for a bit talking to her about printing  all while I bought too much of her stuff. I bought this  and this with the full intention of decorating my crafting table in my new (seeming to never to be found) house. Anyways, check them out and buy some stuff.

Sneak Peek

A wrapped gold bracelet
I've been working like crazy on finishing everything for Indie Mart. After going to Renegade yesterday, I realized that I think I need to make more than what I initially thought. So I have been hunkered down the past couple of days turnin' out quite a bit. But today is monday and my extra long weekend has ended and now it's time to put the apron back on and play lunch lady to the greater part of Marin County.
